Winter Haven Truck Driver Involved In Fatal Hwy 27 Crash In Glades County

According to the Florida Hwy Patrol a Winter Haven truck driver was involved in a fatal crash in Glades County near East Pony Place. The FHP reports that around 4:20am a Mississippi man (27) was driving a Dodge Charger was traveling East on the outside lane, traveling directly behind a Semi-truck with Trailer, driven by a 39 yr old Winter Haven man. As the Semi-truck with Trailer began to slow for the changing of the posted speed limit (45 mph to 35 mph) the Charger failed to ensure proper following distance and slow. The front of the Charger collided with the rear trailer portion of Semi-truck with Trailer.


The driver of the Charger was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
