Gerald Lloyd Brittain’s obituary

Gerald Lloyd Brittain, age 91, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. He was born on September 30, 1932 in Jackson, Michigan to the late W. Claud Brittain and Emma Powers Brittain.

Gerald served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After serving his country in the military, Gerald went on to become an Electrician. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Alfred, Central Wesleyan of Jackson, Michigan, IBEW National and Local Chapter #252. In his spare time Gerald enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and was a member of both a bowling league and his church softball league.

Gerald was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Jean Claire Brittain of Winter Haven, FL, daughter Susan (Amanat Ali) Brittain of Khanpur Punjab, Pakistan, son John (Kelly) Brittain of Knob Noster, MO, son Ron (Ellen) Brittain of Grand Ledge, MI, son Todd (Tara) Brittain of Lake Alfred, FL, and grandsons Caleb Brittain of Knob Noster, MO, Micah Brittain of Knob Noster, MO, Mitchell Brittain of Grand Ledge, MI, Spencer Brittain of Lansing, MI, and Alex Brittain of Grand Ledge, MI. Gerald also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation for Gerald will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Auburndale on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Celebration of Life to begin at 11:00 AM. Following the service will be a time of fellowship with refreshments.

Gerald’s family and friends will celebrate his life at Burden-Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home in Jackson, Michigan. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Saturday, January 6, 2024 a visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11: 30 AM with a luncheon to be served at Steve’s Ranch Restaurant from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, located at 311 W. Louis Glick Hwy, Jackson, MI 49201. A final visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with a Celebration of Life to begin at 3:00 PM. Gerald will be laid to rest at 4:15 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Jackson, Michigan.
