In loving memory of Leola McGriff, born in the charming town of Winter Haven, Florida, on May 31, 1944, who peacefully passed away on February 12, 2025, also in Winter Haven.

Leola was a devoted and cherished presence in the lives of her family and friends. She was 80 years old. Known by many as a people person, Leola made everyone feel like family. Her enduring kindness and loyalty have left a profound mark on all who knew her.

Her home was a gathering place, alive with the love of family and friends. Leola had a passion for collecting antiques and crystals and was renowned for her culinary skills. Known affectionately as everyone’s mom or grandma, she relished the moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cooking and savoring the joy of togetherness.

Leola was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James McGriff; her parents, Johnny and Lettie Bivins. She leaves behind a legacy through her loving children sons,

James (Tanger) McGriff Jr. and Walter (Yvonne) McGriff; daughters Lutrica Smith and Tammy McGriff; brother, Robert Lee Bivins; along with 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy to her.

Family and friends gathered to honor Leola’s life with a visitation on Friday, February 21, from 5-7 pm. A funeral service celebrating her life took place on Saturday, February 22, with interment immediately following. Leola McGriff will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the love she inspired. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude for the expressions of kindness and encouragement during this difficult time.

And God will wipe every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
