Yesterday afternoon, August 14, 2024 officers responded to the Lake Mariam boat ramp area off of Dundee Road in Winter Haven.
Winter Haven Police Department responded, along with assistance from Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Polk County Fire Rescue.
There was speculation from community members that a body may have been found.
We spoke with Jamie Brown, Public Information Officer for the Winter Haven Police Department. She said that rumors of a body being found are NOT true.
Winter Haven Police received information that there could possibly be evidence of a case currently under investigation that was placed in that area. Since it is an ongoing investigation, the police department is unable to elaborate any further on the situation at this time.
