Winter Haven Teen Seriously Injured After Distracted Driver Runs Up On Sidewalk

The Florida Hwy Patrol is reporting a teenager was struck and seriously injured when a distracted driver ran up onto sidewalk.

Here are all details made available by the FHP:

Vehicle 1, A Toyota RAV4, driven by 60-year-old Winter Haven woman, was traveling eastbound on Avenue B Southeast, approaching 6th Street Southeast, when she became distracted by a loud, unknown noise.  The vehicle then traveled partially onto an adjacent sidewalk and struck a 16-year-old female from Winter Haven who was sitting on the curb of the roadway.  The driver was uninjured during the incident while the child suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Call logs show the accident occurred around 12:39pm on Wednesday
