Gayle A. Nelson, age 87, of Haines City, Florida passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on June 5, 1936.
Gayle performed many various jobs and tasks throughout their travel for her husband’s military assignments. Most importantly she was a devoted wife and mother of 3.
Gayle was predeceased by her loving husband Charles H. Nelson Jr. along with her parents Walter Barr and Dorothy Vickers Barr. She is survived by her daughter Donna Nelson of Haines City, FL, son Charles H. Nelson III and wife Gail of Pawleys Island, SC and daughter Lori Kelly of Stover, Missouri and sister Cynthia Ostrander and husband Irving of North Carolina. Gayle also leaves behind her grandchildren Jason, Tia, Kayla, Jarrett, Ileah, Chris, Stacy, Timmy, Austin, Casey, Tiffany, Alyssa Chad, Jerid, Thomas, and Derek (Kelley) as well as 16 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 PM. Gayle will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gayle’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Folds of Honor Foundation.
