A few weeks ago staff received a call from a citizen who’d accidently dropped their phone in the fountain in Central Park. Carlos De Jesus (Assistant Superintendent) and John (Eddie) Simmons (Crew Leader II) went out to take a look. They were unable to locate the phone visually, but they took the extra step to go ahead and drain the fountain to explore further. Ultimately, they were able to recover the citizen’s phone and return it to her. This also prevented any damage from occurring within the fountain as it may have if the phone fell all the down to the mechanics inside.
Great work Carlos and Eddie! Way to go above and beyond for a citizen while also taking great care of the City’s beautiful Central Park Fountain!
