Rotary Park: Playground & Restrooms Closed

Rotary Park is one of the City’s busiest parks, and the City is excited to announce that it will undergo a series of upgrades starting in the next few weeks. These upgrades will include a new renovated playground, park restroom and resurfaced parking lot. During this time, parts of the park will be closed including the playground and restrooms.

  • Playground – the existing playground was installed in 2006.  The existing playground will be demolished and a new playground will be installed within the existing footprint. The playground will feature specific play pieces for the 2-5 age group and 5-12 age groups as well as swings.  A new rubber pour in place safety surface will also be installed. The  equipment within the Rotary Walkway Bump outs will also be upgraded with new inclusive playground equipment. The playground project is expected to start the week of August 15 and last approximately 5 weeks. During this time, the playground area will be closed. The existing trees which provide abundant shade for the playground will remain as features for the new playground.
  • New park restroom – A restroom building will be constructed adjacent to the sand volleyball court and playground area. This will be a new feature at the park to serve park patrons. It will feature two restrooms and a cooling water fountain with water bottle filler. This portion of the project is expected to start the week of August 15 and take 60-90 days to complete.
  • Parking lot resurfacing – the main parking lot located off of Lake Martha Drive NE will be resurfaced. This will work will be completed along with the City’s roadway resurfacing project currently underway. This is also anticipated to occur the week of August 15. Once a specific day has been established, this post will be updated with additional information.

The City is proud to provide these upgrades to Rotary Park. We appreciate everyone’s patience during construction. Once completed, the projects will continue to make Rotary Park be an “All Children’s Park”.
