On 06/01/2022 the defendant identified as Jessica Rast (W/F DOB: 4/25/1977) did knowingly and unlawfully strangle the victim identified as (redacted) by placing both hands around her neck causing her airway and breathing to be restricted against the victims will. The defendant also did knowingly restrain and confine the victim using force against the victims will.

On 06/01/2022 at approximately 2230 hours I responded to the rose motel located at 815 6th street NW, Winter Haven FL, 33881 and made contact with the victim. The victim stated that the defendant came home intoxicated and while she was on the bed the defendant jumped on top of her grabbing her with both hands by the neck and began choking her.
The victim stated she tried to get away but the defendant held her down by the neck continuously choking her. The victim stated she felt like she was going to die and could not breathe.

The victim stated that she was able to break free and open the door to the motel room and began screaming for help but the defendant pulled her back into the room who then held her down and continued to attack her against her will.

During the struggle the defendant bit the victim and scratched her repeatedly. The victim stated after several times of her screaming for help the defendant left the room and began walking before law enforcement arrived.

The victim stated that her and the defendant have been in an intimate sexual relationship for six (6) years and have been living together as a family during that time.

While speaking with the victim I could see obvious read marks and bruising around the victim’s neck. I
observed teeth Imprint on the right arm of the victim and multiple scratches on her arms and face.

I conducted a criminal history check through FCIC/NCIC which showed the defendant has been convicted of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on 05/14/2009. A query through FCIC/NCIC shows the defendant has warrant for violation of probation on a simple battery charge.

The defendant is being charged with one domestic battery by strangulation FSS 784.042(2), one count of false imprisonment FSS 787.02(2)(A), and one count of violation of probation FSS 948.06.
