Welcome, World Travelers! Is Peppa Pig Theme Park Worth the Visit?
by James Coulter
We here at Welcome, World Travelers love to discuss Walt Disney World. However, we also want to take the opportunity to promote the local attractions here in Polk County. So please enjoy this week’s column on the new Peppa Pig Theme Park near LEGOLAND Florida Resort in Winter Haven.
School’s out! Summer’s here! Memorial Day is around the corner. Your little ones have plenty of free time on their hands and want to use every second of it. If you’re looking for something fun to do with them, look no further than the new Peppa Pig Theme Park.
Located only a hop, skip, and jump away from the LEGOLAND Florida Resort in Winter Haven, this 4.5-acre amusement park, themed after the popular preschool show, Peppa Pig, offers big fun for small guests and their families. Whether they want to splash around in “muddy puddles”, fly high in a hot air balloon, or take a wild car ride with Daddy Pig, there’s a little something for even the littlest guest.
“It is the perfect day for preschoolers with adventures as big as they are,” said Heather Concannon, Communications Managerfor LEGOLAND Florida Resort. “Peppa Pig Theme Park is crafted with preschoolers in mind. That means it is a theme park built just for them. It is smaller than LEGOLAND in size, but the attractions are super exciting. They are built for them.”
With only six major attractions, the park focuses less on having you and your little one wait in long lines for rides and more about having them frolic, roam about, and explore. They can scamper about on the playground of Granny Pig’s Garden, dig about in the large Treasure Hunt Sand Pit, and splash about in the Muddy Puddle Splash Pad.
Miss Rabbit’s Diner offers a diverse selection for a quick service meal. Little eaters can enjoy personal pan pizzas, grilled cheese sandwiches, and macaroni and cheese, while adults can enjoy brisket barbecue sandwiches.
If you and your little one want a brief reprieve from the summer heat, step inside the Cinema and watch some Peppa Pig cartoons on the big screen. The bean bag chairs, dark environment, and air-conditioning offer the best opportunity to cool down and even take a quick nap and breather.
The two biggest attractions are Grampy Rabbit’s Dinosaur Parkand Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster. Both offer big thrills for young guests and their guardians, especially if it’s their first time riding a roller coaster. Daddy Pig’s has even been featured in USA Today’s Top 10 Best Reader Choice Awards for theme park attractions.
“[Peppa Pig] The perfect way to escape the day-to-day and be with your little ones in a very unique and special environment that is inclusive as made for them. It is unlike any other theme park that is out there right now,” she said. “There are not as many height requirements… [So] it is an opportunity for little ones to enjoy the world of Peppa Pig like never before.”
We recently visited the new theme park over the weekend to experience everything it had to offer. Here are our overall thoughts with the pros and cons:
Affordable Admission. At only $35 per person, admission to Peppa Pig Theme Park is much more affordable than a visit to any other larger theme park. LEGOLAND Florida Resort, in contrast, costs up to $85 per person. If you’re looking for a family outing that won’t break the bank, Peppa Pig Theme Park is your best choice.
Perfect For Preschoolers. Many young children are too short to ride the big rides at other theme parks, and their little feet can easily tire traversing a larger park, especially during a hot day. Being a smaller park with smaller rides and attractions, Peppa Pig Theme Park is perfect for very young and small children. Even the restrooms have smaller toilets that best accommodate them.
Very Small Park. At only 4.5-acres with only six major attractions, Peppa Pig Theme Park is much smaller than the 150-acre LEGOLAND Florida. At most, you’ll be able to see and do everything in two to three hours. As such, this park is less of a day trip and more of an afternoon outing.
Mild Rides. Of the six main rides, the fastest is Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster. Everything else is an extremely gentle ride. While these rides may be perfect for very young children visiting a theme park for the very first time, older children wanting bigger thrills may become easily bored.
Peppa Pig Theme Park is practically perfect for very young children, especially those who are visiting a theme park for the very first time. The smaller size of the park and rides prove ideal for its young visitors. Best of all, at $35 per person, admission is nearly half the cost of LEGOLAND Florida.
However, this park is best suited for preschool-aged children. Older kids who want bigger rides and thrills may find themselves easily bored by everything other than the roller coaster. Also, don’t expect to stay for too long. This park is ideal for an afternoon outing, somewhere to arrive around lunch and stay until dinner.
Overall, if you’re looking for a fun afternoon with your preschoolers, somewhere to go that is affordable and accommodating to your young ones, Peppa Pig Theme Park is the perfect place to tickle them pink.
