Winter Haven Christian Church Hosted Egg-Stravaganza
by James Coulter
Several hundred children and their families arrived to Rotary Park in Winter Haven last Sunday to get an early start hunting Easter eggs.
Winter Haven Christian Church celebrated Easter early by hosting its second annual Egg-Stravaganza. The main event included an Easter egg hunt with several hundred eggs scattered across the park for children of all ages to hunt.
Attendees could also enjoy a free meal with a hot dog, chips, cookies, and a bottle of water. Other festivities that day included several carnival-style games, balloon animals, and a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny himself.
Dawn Pike, Children’s Minister at Winter Haven Christian Church, felt the event more than met expectations. Of course, as with all of their events, their main expectation was to reach the community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“We are here to reach out to the community and show them the love of Christ,” she said. “So far, there has been plenty of families and children we want to reach them, we could always use more.”
Their inagural Easter event was hosted last year. Despite these uncertain times, both the turnout for this year’s event and last year’s proved exceptional, Pike said.
Winter Haven Christian Church hosts various events for the local community, from summer and day camps to pumpkin patches, trunk or treat, and mission trips.
“We love having fun with the community,” said Janice Thielen, Youth Ministry Leader. “We love bringing love to the community.”
