FIELDHOUSE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
The AdventHealth Fieldhouse & Conference Center is much more than just a sports or event venue. It’s an iconic part of the Winter Haven landscape. It’s a place of exploration and discovery for young students picking up the ball or diving into the pool for the first time. It’s a place for our senior citizens to stay active and enjoy a high quality of life. It’s a place for professional sports leagues to develop the next generation of players. It’s a place for campers, for families, for spectators, for competitors, for conference attendees, and for artists.
These diverse uses mean the Fieldhouse Manager will have the opportunity to produce a wide variety of events with the entire fieldhouse team. The Fieldhouse Manager needs to be able to navigate complex event logistics, find common ground between event hosts and City policies, coordinate across City departments and external partner organizations, and balance priorities.
The Fieldhouse Manager needs to be able to recognize the impact of today’s decisions on tomorrow’s challenges, work productively with diverse personalities, and balance a wide array of sometimes competing priorities.
The Fieldhouse Manager will oversee the staff at the Fieldhouse including customer service representatives, maintenance personnel, and the event management team. Strong relationships will also be developed between the Fieldhouse Manager and partner organizations that operate in the building including Theatre Winter Haven, Ridge Art Association, and the Orlando Magic. Additional partner organizations include Polk County Sports Marketing and facility and event sponsors. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate all these relationships, build strong partnerships, and maintain the Fieldhouse as a flagship venue for the City of Winter Haven.
Daily management of bookings for leasing of the Fieldhouse and Conference Center facilities falls under the Fieldhouse Manager’s supervision. This includes preparing and processing contracts, processing invoices and collecting payments. The Manager will coordinate with Winter Haven Parks, Recreation, & Culture staff, vendors, local businesses, suppliers and the general public on setup, food, equipment, breakdown, and other related services. Administrative duties include staff management, preparing the budget and controlling expenditures, and working within all associated software systems.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The City of Winter Haven offers a competitive salary and benefit package. The starting salary range for the Fieldhouse Manager position is $61,027 – $79,913 annually depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include an annual step plan; 11 paid holidays; 24 total paid days off earned per year; medical, dental, and life insurance; 401(a) retirement plan; education and training opportunities; tuition assistance program; and an employee assistance program.
