City of Winter Haven:
Please join us in congratulating City of Winter Haven’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator David Nicholson on recently passing the wastewater operator “A” license exam.
David has been with the City of Winter Haven since January 2019 and in that time, he has moved swiftly through the process to obtain a Class “A” operator license. The “A” license is one that is needed to serve as a Chief Operator or Plant Manager.
In the state of Florida, to become a wastewater operator you must hold at least a class “C” license with the Department of Environmental Protection, and have a set number of work hours at a wastewater treatment facility under your belt. This license ensures the operator has the proper education and work experience. Once an operator obtains their Class “C” license there is an option to then test to receive a Class “B” and a Class “A” license if the operator chooses.
David has been an extremely motivated team member since day one and we hope to watch him succeed at meeting his next goal as he moves up within our organization.
The City of Winter Haven fosters a “hire to retire” culture and encourages team members to strive to be the best version of themselves. We are glad David chose the City of Winter Haven as his place of employment and congratulations on this tremendous accomplishment.
