Support Your Florida Growers This Season

By Allison Williams

If you live in Polk County, chances are you have driven by or through an orange grove. Right in the heart of Central Florida sits Dundee Citrus Growers Association, where fruit is sourced locally from its grower owners. They have been in operation, packing and marketing fruit for almost 100 years, since 1924.

“Dundee CGA is one of the largest fresh fruit cooperatives in the Florida Citrus Industry. We harvest multiple citrus varieties from 10,000+ acres throughout the state of Florida. In addition to the finest selection of fresh Florida citrus, Dundee CGA offers Florida blueberries and tree-ripened peaches as part of our product family.” – www.dun-d.com

Steven B. Callaham is the CEO of Dundee Citrus Growers Association. He says, “Dundee Citrus is a grower owned cooperative which provides harvesting, packaging and marketing services to its members.”

Joe Garrison is a member of Dundee Citrus. He often gets comments from concerned community members about new homes/subdivisions going in and taking away from the groves.

“What we want to do is help the local grower out,” Garrison said, “I want to let people know that this brand is 100% agriculture products from Florida. Purchasing it will help us support our local growers and support who is left because we are in it to win it. I think this is the best way to help us, because our land is diminishing. People are disappointed that housing developments are taking over orange groves, so this is an opportunity to let people know this is our brand and this stuff is grown 100% in the state of Florida, mainly Central Florida. Please look for this brand in our markets. That helps all of our local growers.”
