A Winter Haven man is lucky to be alive after three males grabbed the steering wheel of his car while another put him in a choke hold in an attempted robbery.

On April 17, 2025 at approximately 3:26 pm, a 25 year-old man picked up a friend at her request with three other men who also got in the car. The female was in the front seat and the three males, identified as 18 year-old Soverson Dionne Leguere (DOB 11-8-06 5752 Royal Hills Court, Winter Haven), 18 year-old Joangel Vinicio Rodriguez (DOB 2-9-07  5769 Old Lucerne Park Rd., Winter Haven) and 18 year old Sebastian Alfonso Ledesma Colon (DOB 10-13-06  334 Meadowbrook Blvd, Winter Haven)

When the female was dropped off at her destination, Leguere got out of the back and got in the front seat. The victim was uncomfortable and feared something was going to occur, but he drove to drop the three men off. While driving on Lucerne Park Rd in front of the Walmart Distribution Center, Leguere grabbed the steering wheel, demanded $700 and threatened him with a shank. Rodriguez reached over the back seat and grabbed the steering wheel while Ledesma put the victim in a choke-hold with his arm around the victim’s neck.

Fearing he was going to be killed by the trio, the victim pressed his foot hard on the accelerator, crossed over the oncoming lane and crashed into the swampy area directly off the roadway. Leguere, Rodriguez and Ledesma Colon jumped out of the car and ran as they threatened the victim and told him they knew where he lives.

Detectives located Leguere at his residence on April 17, 2025 at approximately 9 p.m. and was taken into custody. Through dedicated hard work and investigative means, Ledesma Colon was located and arrested on April 18 and Rodriquez was arrested on April 19, 2025. All three were booked into the Polk County Jail.

Leguere was charged with one count of robbery (F2) and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
Ledesma Colon and Rodriguez were each charged with Attempted Robbery (Grand Theft) (F3) and were each held on $5,000 bond.
