Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Shiver

July 29th, 1936 – July 16th, 2024

Elizabeth Ann Shiver

Elizabeth Shiver, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, July 16th at the age of eighty-seven at Winter Haven Hospital. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Elizabeth was born on July 29, 1936, in Lake Wales, FL to Jimmie Lee Phillips Turner and William Hartford Turner. She married Marion “Buck” Shiver on September 12, 1964, and together they shared forty-two wonderful years of marriage until Buck’s passing.

Elizabeth and her husband owned and operated Buck’s Body Shop in Lake Wales, FL for many years, building a reputation for hard work and dedication to their community.

Elizabeth was saved in a revival meeting at West Side Baptist Church in Lake Wales, Florida, at the age of ten, under the preaching of Rev. Herman Collins.  From that night on, she believed and knew that Jesus Christ died on Calvary’s cross to atone for her sins, was buried and rose again in victory over death, that she might have eternal life with Him in heaven. A devout follower of God, Elizabeth found immense joy in her faith. She was an active member of Parkland Baptist Church of Winter Haven, where prior to becoming disabled, she taught the women’s Sunday School class and played the piano for many years, bringing warmth and inspiration through her music. Her love for the church and her dedication to her spiritual life was evident to all who knew her.

Elizabeth had a deep love for animals, especially her cherished cat, Carly, and family dog Chloe. She was known for her gentle and compassionate nature, always ready to care for any creature in need. Her home was a haven of love, not only for her family but for all animals.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Jimmie Lee Nimmo; her father, William Hartford Turner; her brother, Albert Turner; her sister, Virginia Looney; and her husband, Marion “Buck” Shiver.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Langford and son in law Allan Langford; her granddaughter, Chelsea Langford Wren (Jake Wren) great granddaughters Paisley Elizabeth Wren, Hadlee Lynn Wren and Hailey Ann Wren; and granddaughter Courtney Langford Ingram (Sean Ingram) and her great-grandchildren, Addilee Rae Ingram, Brielyn Marie Ingram, and Wyatt Cody Ingram. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Elizabeth’s kind and soft-spoken demeanor touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her gentle spirit, and her boundless love for both people and animals.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 09:30 AM Rolling Hills Cemetery, 4810 Tilden Rd, Winter Haven, Fl. 33881.

Elizabeth Shiver will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Most importantly, Elizabeth died in faith. Rest in peace. Your music and love will forever echo in our hearts.
