Carl’s Game Station Helps You Get Your Game On

Must Read

by James Coulter

Do you love trading card games like Magic: The Gathering or Pokémon? Or do you prefer tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons? Whether you want to catch them all, you think it’s time to duel, or you want to roll for initiative, Carl’s Game Station has all of your gaming needs.

Located in the historic Rhodesbilt Arcade in Downtown Lake Wales, Carl’s Game Station sells a diverse selection of trading cards and game supplies for the most popular franchises including Magic: The GatheringDungeons & DragonsPokémon, & Yu-Gi-Oh!

While you won’t find any video games or sports trading card games, you will be able to buy, sell, and trade from the most popular (and even lesser known) franchises. They even showcase a sizable selection of comic books and manga.

If you’re looking for a specific card to add to your deck, drop by the store (through TCGplayer.com) and see if they have it on sale. If not, you can always visit their website and browse the online store. When you’ve made your selection, make your online purchase and pick up your card at the store once it’s been delivered.

Regardless of what you’re searching for, Carl’s Game Station will not only help you find it, but they will also offer you the space to test out your gaming skills with regularly scheduled gaming events and contests. You can even reserve space for your next big game.

“It is a friendly environment,” said Bryan Adamson, owner and manager. “I try not to be too cutthroat about stuff. I like to talk with people, and we just try to be as nice as possible.”

Moreover, they have also opened an online superstore for singles (www.carlsgamestation.online). As Adamson explains: “that is where you want to buy-trade-sell singles of all kinds. With gas so expensive we will meet you close to where you live to purchase your cards. We deliver by mail, too.”
For the past decade, Carl’s Game Station has moved to various locations in Winter Haven, Dundee, and Lake Wales. They previously set up shop several years ago along Scenic Highway. They now reside in the scenic downtown arcade.
Through it all, they have maintained a dedicated loyal fanbase of players and buyers who love the overall environment where they can play their favorite games and buy the cards and supplies they need for the next game.
“Carl’s Game Station has a variety of supplies a fun play group for the most popular card games,” one Facebook reviewer wrote. “They are always looking to get people interested in the new games as well, and are happy to just have people in playing board games. It’s a fun place to hang out or kill some time.”
“Very awesome,” another person wrote. “Found this place online and went in for some singles. Ended up playing a game for a promo and having a blast. Great staff and regulars!”
Their online sales certainly helped them weather the pandemic, as it was during the COVID-19 crisis that online sales for trading cards experienced a major boom, Adamson said. Overall, single card sales prove more popular than sales of sealed card packages, he said.
“No one could really go to stores for a decent time, and the only way to do anything with trading cards was trade and buy online. That has been a big factor,” he said. “That has been a pretty big part of our success. We sell a lot of stuff online. Then the other part is just a loyal customer base. We have quite a few people who followed us wherever we go.”
Adamson and his staff hope to continue going strong at their downtown location. They hope to continue hosting more events to draw in customers both old and new alike. Moreover, they hope to continue maintaining a hospitable environment that brings everyone in regardless of who they are. After all, everyone enjoys a good game.
